Could a Dodge based on DS look like this?

When Fiat Chrysler joined with Peugeot to form Stellantis, it suddenly became possible for Dodge and Chrysler to bring sedans and coupes other than the L-cars back. Peugeot’s various brands, including the upscale DS, have been profitably selling sedans in Europe even as most buyers turned towards crossovers.

While it seems most likely that Chrysler and Dodge will add Peugeot-based crossovers rather than sedans or coupes, YBNormyl created a rendering based on mixing DS and Dodge styling to show what might happen.

The original Copperhead concept, released in 1997, was a rear wheel drive two-seater using a high-output 2.7 liter V6 with a manual transmission, longer and narrower than the Dodge Viper. It was made “in the tradition of the Austin-Healey 3000.” The rendering is partly based on the current DS cars, whose platform is to be refined into one of Stellantis’ core platform/architectures over the next few years.

The rendering includes a mini-Challenger-esque grille, DS-style angles at the ends of the bumpers, massive air ducts for the brakes, and the fratzog featured in recent Dodge BEV renderings.

The next new car expected to reach the Mopar brands is the Dodge Hornet, which comes off an FCA platform, and may have been in the works before the merger. The Hornet may reach American shores in 2022. Chrysler has also trademarked the Atlantic name, though that might be for a considered or planned version of the Jeep Wagoneer—which could well appear as the next-generation Dodge Durango in late 2022 or 2023.
