2022 Grand Cherokee getting 4xe hybrid; reveal on Wednesday

Jeep confirmed today that the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee will get a 4xe hybrid version, which provides V6-level power with a broader torque curve and better economy, as well as more traditional powertrain options.

2022 jeep grand cherokee reveal

The Grand Cherokee is likely to look much like the Grand Cherokee L, which is already in production; the L is a de facto replacement for the Dodge Durango, as a lengthened Grand Cherokee with three rows of seats. The current Dodge Durango is reportedly continuing production into next year; it provides buyers with somewhat lower pricing and higher maximum tow ratings, along with an SRT version.

Jeep’s announcement reads:

The legend continues. The all-new 2022 Jeep® Grand Cherokee, including an electrified 4xe version, will make its official world debut at 9 a.m. EDT / 1 p.m GMT on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021.

This fifth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee builds on a legacy as the most awarded SUV ever, shattering expectations by bringing the most technologically advanced, luxurious and 4×4-capable Jeep Grand Cherokee yet. As the Jeep brand pushes toward a future of “zero emission freedom,” the all-new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee will offer, for the first time, 4xe plug-in hybrid technology.
