American Axle, one of the largest auto suppliers, will continue to supply Ram heavy duty pickups—that is, the Ram 2500 and 3500—with their axles and driveshafts all the way to 2030. The company’s statement promised that they would provide “our latest and most efficient driveline technologies… for the next-generation of this key vehicle program.”
American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings, Inc., headquartered in Detroit from a massive building clearly visible from the highway, supplies the current heavy duty pickups as well. The company’s creation was led by former Chrysler manufacturing man Dick Dauch; the company closed its Detroit factories in 2012, moving some production to Mexico, but maintains numerous plants in several states including Michigan.
