We learned this morning that when the 2021 SEMA Show in Las Vegas opens tomorrow, the newest Mopar-branded vehicle will meet the world in the form of the Mopar ’22 Dodge Durango. 2022 marks the 12th year where Mopar has selected a vehicle from one of the Chrysler Group brands to customize in limited production numbers. This is also the second time that the Durango has been chosen and like just about every Mopar-branded vehicle, it is a mid-level trim decked out in black- or white-and-blue.
“Our new, limited-edition Mopar ‘22 Durango features exclusive Mopar performance parts and accessories.’” said Mark Bosanac, North America vice president, Mopar Service, Parts & Customer Care. “Unlike any other aftermarket offerings, our performance parts and accessories are jointly developed and quality tested with the product engineering team and they are backed by the factory.”
Today, we bring you a look at all of the key details of this limited edition Dodge Durango.
Mopar ’22 Exterior
The Mopar ’22 begins its life as a 2022 Dodge Durango R/T AWD with both the Plus Group and the Tow N Gow group.
This package comes exclusively with the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with SRT performance exhaust, offering 360 horsepower, 390 lb-ft of torque, a top speed of 145 mph and the ability to tow up to 8,700 pounds with help from an 8-speed automatic transmission. Other key features include the Drive Mode system with Track, Snow Sport and Tow settings, SRT active suspension and 20×10-inch “Lights Out” wheels wrapped in Pirelli rubber.
The Mopar build then begins with the buyer’s choice of either DB Black or White Knuckle exterior paint, with both colors coming with an offset Mopar Blue stripe that runs from front to rear on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Mopar badging replaces the Dodge logo on the grille the Brembo brake calipers are painted Mopar Blue as well. A one-inch Mopar lowering kit gives the Mopar ’22 Durango a sportier stance and improved handling without leading to a rougher ride.
Premium Dodge Cabin
On the inside, the Mopar ’22 offers a true, premium feel starting with black leather-and-suede seats with embroidered Mopar logos in the upper seat backs and blue accent stitching.
The black leather treatment is continued throughout the cabin, including the dashboard, door panels and center console, with more blue accent stitching and crushed carbon fiber trim. The instrument panel features a Mopar ’22 badge with the serialized build number while the reconfigurable gauge cluster and award winning UConnect system are included as well.
Finally, each Mopar ’22 buyer will get an owner’s kit which includes a personalized metal certificate or authenticity with the same serial number as the dash badge, along with a unique rendering of the vehicle.
Price and Availability
The Mopar ’22 Dodge Durango package has a price of $3,995, so it is particularly expensive, but it is limited to just 200 units for the United States and 50 units for Canada. With such few numbers, they will likely be ordered quickly by dealerships for inventory, but based on the past Mopar vehicles, they will not get the big dealer markups like some other limited production models.
Orders for the Mopar ’22 will open in the first quarter of 2022, with delivery of these Moparized Dodge Durango R/Ts starting in the summer of 2022.
