Grand Cherokee 4xe specs; current, next-gen cars to be at CES

Stellantis will have on-site and virtual experiences to showcase their technology at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, January 5-8. The event will give Americans a chance to see some cars not sold in the United States; to see the Chrysler Airflow in person, for the first time; and to see the Grand Cherokee 4xe for the first time.

As part of the event, the Grand Cherokee 4xe’s specifications have been revealed. The vehicle will, like the Wrangler, be a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). While there is only 25 miles of all-electric range (at 57 MPGe), the powertrain pumps out a hefty 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque; it is likely to match V6 fuel economy when running as a plain hybrid, despite the high power output.

Notably, the company is showing off cars from their full portfolio, including two French brands that are not sold in the United States (and are not likely to be sold here in the foreseeable future) and a Fiat which is not sold in the United States.

The virtual experience starts on January 5 at 1 pm Eastern time (10 am Pacific time), at stellantisces2022.com. Cars to be shown include:

  • Chrysler Airflow Concept
  • Citroën Skate Mobility Concept — an autonomous electric transport robot to move around cities.
  • Citroën Ami, a small two-passenger urban EV which, in France, can be used by 14-year-olds. Charge time is three hours.
  • DS E-Tense FE21: Two-time defending champion in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, the 1,984-pound car (with driver) with  a 900-volt system, 52 kWh battery, and 338-horsepower electric motor which allows 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds.
  • Fiat 500: has a range of up to 199 miles and 85kW fast charge; it is the first city car with Assisted Driving Level 2 and Stellantis’ best selling EV
  • Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer including Fire TV and a front passenger screen.
  • Jeep Wrangler 4xe
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe  plug-in hybrid electric with estimated 25 miles (40 km) of all-electric range and 57 MPGe, with 375 hp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, and 10.1-inch (25.7 cm) display, five-times-faster operating speed (when compared to the previous generation) and over-the-air (OTA) updates.
