There are few new vehicles sold in the world with a more iconic exterior design than the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator. Both of these vehicles showcase an overall shape that has been in place for decades, dating back to the very first military Jeeps. This includes the boxy design and the flat, vertical windshield which can be folded down during off-road fun, but this windshield design leads to lots of direct rock strikes that lead to chips, cracks and, inevitable, a new windshield.
Of course, stone chips and cracks are an issue with any vehicle, but the steep angle of the Wrangler and Gladiator windshield make them particularly susceptible to harmful rock strikes. In vehicles with less extreme windshield angles, there is a better chance of the rock hitting at an angle, deflecting it up over the car, whereas many rocks that his the Wrangler and Gladiator windshield impact the glass directly, leaving the glass to absorb the force of the hit.

Jeep Gorilla Glass Windshield
Gorilla Glass is best known for its use in near-unbreakable cell phone screens, but the new Jeep Performance Parts windshields use the same construction and technology. This includes a thin inner layer of Gorilla Glass and an outer layer that is 52% thicker, leading to unrivaled protection against damage from the elements. In fact, this windshield comes with a two-year warranty.
Mopar was the first to offer a Gorilla Glass windshield, launching the product for the JK Wrangler in April of 2018, but starting today, JL Wrangler and Gladiator owners can order one of these high strength, lightweight windshields as well.
The Gorilla Glass windshield for the JL Wrangler and Gladiator is Mopar part number 68522631AA and it has an MSRP of $793. This product is only currently offered for models that do not have an embedded antenna, a forward camera or the heated surround, but Gorilla Glass windshields from Mopar for Wrangler and Gladiator models with those features will be available “later this summer”.
