Jeep lot flood kills new vehicles waiting for delivery (updated)

In a fit of very bad timing, a sudden hard rain in Detroit flooded a factory lot and destroyed a hefty number of Jeep Grand Cherokees newly made by the Jefferson North Assembly Plant (JNAP). The new vehicles would have entered a market that’s short on cars, giving dealers a chance to make up for time lost to COVID; instead, some will almost certainly end up as scrap.

Not all the vehicles in the lot appear to have been destroyed.

A Stellantis representative confirmed that severe storms came through Detroit on June 25, flooding expressways, local streets, and houses. The photos were confirmed to be of “a shipping yard near the JNAP plant.”
