Jeep officially launches one-up Wrangler Xtreme Recon Package

The Wrangler Xtreme Recon Package delivers the Wrangler’s best-ever offroad specs with factory 35-inch tires, beadlock-capable 17×8 wheels with LT315/70R17C BFG KO2 all-terrain tires, and a 1.5-inch factory suspension lift with special shocks.

The Recon has a 4.56:1 axle ratio; a 4.88:1 axle ratio, providing an industry-first 100:1 crawl ratio, is slated to be a Wrangler Rubicon option later this year.

The results of all these changes are, as Jeep teased, new clearance angles and measures:

  • 47.4° approach
  • 26.7° breakover
  • 40.4° departure
  • 12.9 inch ground clearance
  • 33.6 inch water crossing

The package is available on the Wrangler Rubicon and Wrangler Rubicon 392, with production slated to start in August. The 4.88 axle, which provides a 100:1 crawl ratio with the manual transmission, will be “available for ordering later in 2021.”

Jeep also, as an afterthought, announced that the 2022 Compass would be shown off in Chicago on July 14.

The announcement wraps up a week with several numbers teased, and correctly deciphered by Jalopnik and Stellpower.
