Leah Pruett Coming to Modern Street Hemi Shootout Season Opener

When the Modern Street Hemi Shootout opens their 2021 schedule with the Legmaker Intakes event at Orlando Speedworld, NHRA superstar and Mopar racer Leah Pruett will be in attendance. Pruett will be handling a handful of duties, and while she won’t be making any passes in either of her NHRA race cars, she went down the track a few times at an MSHS event last year in the monster twin turbo Challenger owned by series boss Dan VanHorn.

Whether or not Leah Pruett hits the track at the Modern Street Hemi Shootout opener, this event will give Mopar racing fans a great chance to meet and get autographs from the NHRA Top Fuel and Factory Stock Showdown driver. Best of all, the state of Florida is not under any restrictions in terms of event attendance, so the Legmaker Intakes Modern Street Hemi Shootout is open to both racers and spectators alike. If you have been to an MSHS event before, you are familiar with friendly environment and the amazing scope of race cars, making them great for racers and spectators, but at the event on March 28th, a day with many of the world’s quickest modern Mopar racers will include a chance to meet Leah Pruett.

Leah Pruett and the MSHS

As mentioned above, Leah Pruett attended a Modern Street Hemi Shootout event during the 2020 season and her presence at the event was a popular feature. I did not attend that race, but I have had the chance to meet her on several occasions and she is friendly and down-to-Earth, which isn’t always the case with professional racers. She is also great with fans at any event, so if you are a fan of hers, you will enjoy meeting her in person.

I spoke with Dan VanHorn, who ran through some of the things that Leah Pruett will be doing at the Legmaker Intakes Modern Street Hemi Shootout event. On the racing side of things, she will be hosting the pre-race drivers’ meeting, helping rookie drivers get acclimated with track racing, handling the chip draw for the Heavyweight Class, pairing up cars in some of the other classes in later rounds and hanging out with racers in the staging lanes.

For the spectators, Pruett will be involved in handing out giveaway items along with hosting autograph and Q&A sessions, where she will talk about her new Drag Pak Challenger.

For those wondering, we don’t know for sure that she will be climbing into a car, but after she made some impressive runs in Dan VanHorn’s wicked twin turbocharged Challenger, there is a chance that she might flex some Mopar muscle as well.

In addition to the full racing program on Sunday, racers can participate in the Diablosport pre-event track rental on Friday, March 26th for $150. On Saturday the 27th, the Horsepower Wars event is being held at Orlando Speedworld and MSHS racers can compete in that program for $35 per class.

As for spectators, it is $25 per day or $40 for the whole weekend. If you love drag racing, you should just make a weekend of it. You will not be disappointed.
