Ram is recalling a mere two dozen (24) 2021 Ram 1500 Classic trucks, all SLT models, because someone forgot to add the clip that secures the brake master cylinder pushrod to the brake pedal assembly.
Ram has asked owners to avoid driving the trucks until they are inspected and, if needed, fixed. The fix is to install the pushrod clip. US-based owners can contact customer service at 800-853-1403 and ask about recall Y04 (NHTSA 21V-037).
In government documents, Ram blamed “certain operators” who did not install the clip but reported that they did, on November 23, 2020. The “operators” were removed from their positions on November 24, 2020. Ram is checking vehicles starting with build dates of November 20, 2020.
Other symptoms may include noises from the brake pedal area. The clip itself is part number 04581512AA. So far, as far as Stellantis knows, there have been no crashes or warranty claims from this problem.
