Last month, the Modern Street Hemi Shootout headed to Virginia Motorsports Park for the second stop on the 2021 schedule, leading to two days of action-packed modern Mopar drag racing. Series boss Dan VanHorn credited the VMP track crew for providing a great surface, adding that “Tyler Crossnoe is the top dog there and was on the tractor doing his magic. He is world renowned.” The result of that world-renowned track prep was a bunch of very fast Hemi-powered machines.
Demon Performance MSHS Virginia Results
The second event of the 2021 MSHS series was sponsored by Demon Performance and even though it is early in the season, several class frontrunners have emerged as favorites for season championships. Al Gennarelli won the Diablosport & Holley Hemi Outlaw class for the second time this season, Brian Brunt won the High Horse Performance 10.00 Index class for the second time, Daniel Mortenson won the ThiTek Heavyweight class after winning the “second chance” bracket of the class at the season opener, Greg Green won the Legmaker Intakes Super Stock class after finishing second at the season opener and Ron Polidora won the Demon Performance Super Pro class after finishing second in the opener with his incredible Hellcat Hemi-powered 1964 Dodge (shown above). Click here for more on the results from the first event of the 2021 MSHS schedule.
Polidora would go on to win the Z Automotive King of the Hill class for the MSHS Demon Performance event, which pits all of the class winners head-to-head in a bracket format.

MSHS Heads Home May 15-16
On May 15 and 16, the Modern Street Hemi Shootout heads to Rockingham Dragway, the official home of the series. For those who do not know, it was announced last year that series boss Dan VanHorn and long-time series competitor Al Gennarelli are purchasing the track facility and over the course of the next year, they are working with the current ownership to ensure a smooth transition. VanHorn and Gennarelli will officially assume full ownership sometime in 2022, but the track known as “The Rock” has become the home base of sorts for the Modern Street Hemi Shootout.
In addition to the traditional classes listed above, the Rockingham MSHS event, sponsored by the team at Hemituner Performance, will feature some additional racing opportunities. This includes the 2021 Drag Pak Shootout, the Throwback 9.50 Index class and the MSHS Hemi Grudge entry, which is open to all Gen 3 Hemi-powered machines that don’t fit into any of the other classes. A traditional MSHS racer entry for the Hemituner Performance event at Rockingham Dragway is $130 and that includes entry into two classes. The MSHS Rookie class is free to a select number of drivers and there are still openings available and those who want to participate in the Friday track rental, sponsored by High Horse Performance, that pass will cost $120.
