Old Grand Cherokee to live on

The old Grand Cherokee “WK2” will live on, at least in Canada, according to Mopar Insiders; it appears in the jeep.ca Build and Price system, and dealers told the site that it would indeed continue. The models will be Laredo, Altitude, Limited, and Limited X; the Laredo starts at C$50,445 (Canadian dollars).

The reason is not to keep Jeeps with 392 or Hellcat engines; none has so much as a 5.7 Hemi. They are all equipped with the Pentastar V6, instead. Chances are the issue is not having sufficient semiconductors for a full run of the newer Grand Cherokee model, or a desire to keep a relatively low-priced, value vehicle for thrifty Canadians. The latter would echo the Ram 1500 Classic.

The same assembly line produces Dodge Durangos, which have also been confirmed for 2022.
