An explosion and fire yesterday at the Windsor Assembly Plant, which makes Pacifica, Caravan, and Voyager minivans, has been confirmed by police, who said it appeared to be intentional. Arson investigators found a “suspicious package that detonated,” according to the CBC.
Windsor, Ontario police have arrested a suspect, and he is not one of the union autoworkers. The suspect turned out to be a plant custodian, who was suspended because he refused to get a vaccination. Based on his loud protests against vaccinations, it is possible the explosion was set off as a form of protest or of terrorism, but until the trial, it is unlikely that the suspect’s guilt or intention will be known.
Employees reacted with surprise and some horror at the idea of a deliberate explosion being set off at the plant. No injuries were reported.
