Tiny Ram Recall

Ram is recalling 132 pickups whose side curtain airbags have the wrong amount of compressed gas. The defect might affect the 2021-22 Ram 2500 and 3500, and 2021 Ram 1500 Classic. Dealers will replace the flawed assemblies, which were made by Joyson Safety Systems, at no charge to customers.

The recall affects just 33 Ram 1500 Classics made from February 1, 2021 through November 8, 2021; 28 Ram 3500s made from January 28, 2021 through November 5, 2021; and 71 Ram 2500s made from January 28, 2021 through November 4, 2021.

The company will contact only customers whose pickups were made with the out-of-specification airbags.

As far as the Ram people can tell, there have been no incidents related to the problem, which was reported by the supplier. Joyson Safety Systems had tested one of the airbags in November 2021 and found it did not fully inflate the cushion; they reported it to FCA US, which decided, around nine days later, to issue the recall. The stated notification date for dealers and owners is January 13, 2022, but the company often moves more quickly.
