A Top Tuner Now Offers a Warranty on Hellcat, TRX and Trackhawk Builds

Satera Tuning is one of the top aftermarket performance shops in the modern Mopar world, offering big power packages for the Dodge Hellcat models, the Ram 1500 TRX and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk that yield over a thousand horsepower. With his latest announcement, Jeremy Satera is adding peace of mind to those packages, offering an extensive warranty program for most of his packages, including those which offer well over a thousand horsepower.

You read that right – you can buy a high performance upgrade package for your Hellcat Challenger, Hellcat Charger, Hellcat Durango, SRT Demon, Ram TRX or Trackhawk that comes with a warranty of up to 3 years/36,000 miles that will protect your engine, transmission, rear differential or transfer case (when applicable). It sounds crazy, but it is true and after talking with Jeremy Satera, we have the details on this innovative new program.

Best of all, we aren’t just talking about some simple packages that add 10 or 15 horsepower. The SaT.Tun warranty equipped packages start at Stage 1 with an output of around 858 horsepower in the standard (707-717hp) Hellcat cars, the TRX, the Trackhawk and the Durango Hellcat, with the Stage 3 package offering 1,010 horsepower. The Redeye, Demon and Super Stock Satera packages start with 949hp at Stage 1 and top out in Stage 3 with 1,111 horsepower – and they all have extensive warranty coverage.

Satera Warranty Packages

First and foremost, Satera Tuning has not just applied a warranty to their current packages, raised the price and called it a day. The SaT.Tun warranty packages come with many more components than the non-warranty packages while also coming with an extensive vehicle inspection program prior to the build.

The first step for a customer who has purchased a Satera warranty equipped performance package is the vehicle inspection. Since many customers come to the shop with a vehicle that has seen at least a few hard miles, the team starts by inspecting the vehicle from front to back. The goal is to make sure that it is mechanically sound, so in addition to a visual inspection of every key component, the team will also inspect all of the fluids and do a compression check. Once the vehicle has passed the inspection, the final pre-build step is a dyno session to collect baseline numbers, which also gives Satera Tuning a chance to make sure that the car, truck or SUV is operating correctly.

Next, the components of the upgrade package are installed, with varying levels of performance, but these kits come with unique items when compared to the non-warrantied packages. For example, the SaT.Tun Level 1 warranty package for my 2017 Hellcat Challenger comes with a a Per4Mance Development DIR-S differential brace, a JLT cold air intake, a pair of billet aluminum catch cans and a set of new NGK spark plugs – along with a clutch 2.86-inch pulley, ID1050x fuel injectors, a Mishimoto 180 degree thermostat and a custom tune with HPTuners software. For comparison, the non-warrantied Level 1 kit simply includes the pulley, injectors, thermostat and tune; no air intake, differential brace, catch cans, spark plugs or vehicle inspection.

Once all of these items are installed, the vehicle goes back onto the dyno to verify the power gains and to ensure that the Hellcat-powered car, truck or SUV is in proper running order. The vehicles are also street-tested to make sure that they offer the expected level of drivability. Once that is complete, the build is finished with a billet underhood plaque with the owner’s name, the package chosen, the power output levels and a unique serial number for the package.

When the customer picks up the vehicle, Satera Tuning records the date and mileage, tracking the warranty of either 2 years/24,000 miles or 3 years/36,000 miles.

Required Aftercare for Warranty Guidelines

Of course, as is the case with the automotive manufacturers, the Satera Tuning warranty packages have maintenance requirements after the owner has taken delivery. An oil change with specific synthetic oil based on the package chosen is required every 3 months or 3,000 miles, the spark plugs have to be changed every 12 months or 12,000 miles, owners must send photographs of the spark plugs being removed to Satera Tuning for evaluation, the fuel injectors must be removed and cleaned every 12 months or 12,000 miles for gas-tuned vehicles (every 6 months or 6,000 miles for E85-tuned packages) and the mileage must be reported to the company every year. Also, if a vehicle with a SaT.Tun warranty equipped performance package with an E85 tune sits for more than 2 weeks without being run, the owner is required to clean the injectors.

This warranty program protects the engine, transmission, transfer case and rear differential, but it does not apply to normal wear items, such as the axles, driveshaft, fuel pumps, brakes, body or electrical components. There is some fine print to these warranty programs, but it is nothing surprising. This program currently applies to 2015-and-newer vehicles with less than 30,000 miles on the odometer, and it must have a clear title.

While these warranty equipped packages cost more than a standard performance upgrade without any warranty, the thorough vehicle inspection coupled with the warranty protection and the added components make the Satera Tuning packages a great option for anyone who is willing to pay for that level of peace of mind. For the Hellcat owner who is worried about breaking a differential or a TRX owner who is concerned about the cost of replacing the transfer case with added power, these warranty equipped packages remove those concerns.
