Black Ghost Dodge Challenger Redeye Pays Homage to a Detroit Street Racer

Today, Dodge introduced the sixth of seven Last Call models which will be offered for the 2023 Challenger and/or Charger . This time, it is the Black Ghost special edition, which is a uniquely-dressed SRT Hellcat Redeye with 807 horsepower that is designed as a tribute to a legendary Detroit street racer – who also happened to be a local police officer. “There are so many legendary muscle cars in Dodge brand history, it was hard to choose the seven vehicles we wanted to pay homage to with our Last Call lineup, but the Black Ghost was an easy pick,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer – Stellantis. “The 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost is the prelude to what we’re going to unveil with our seventh and final special-edition model.”

Dodge will build just 300 examples of the 2023 Challenger Black Ghost special edition package, all of which are based on the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody in Pitch Black, but like the Jailbreak and Super Stock models, the Black Ghost features 807 horsepower rather than 797. This package also comes standard with a 3.09 gear rather than the normal 2.62, leading to stronger low end acceleration.

The unique features of the 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost begin on the outside with a black “gator skin” vinyl roof treatment, vintage styled Challenger script badges on the fenders, grille and rear spoiler, Dodge letting across the top of the front fascia (like the original Challenger), a white tail stripe, a bright fuel filler door, 20-by-11-inch Satin Carbon Warp Speed wheels, black Brembo brake calipers and Mopar hood pins.

On the inside, the Black Ghost comes with a package specific badge on the passenger’s side of the dashboard, Laguna leather and Alcantara seats and door panels, an Alcantara steering wheel with a red illuminated SRT logo, a suede headliner and real carbon fiber trim bezels.

As is the case for all of the 2023 Last Call models, the pricing for the Black Ghost special edition will be announced closer to the on-sale date, which could come as soon as next month. Also like the other Last Call models, the Black Ghost package cannot be ordered by a customer or dealership. Instead, the company will built these models at random and send them to pre-selected dealerships. Prospective buyers will be able to track the location of these cars – and all 2023 Challenger and Charger allocation figures by dealership – on the Dodge Garage Horsepower Locator when it goes live next month.

The final Last Call vehicle will be introduced at the 2022 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, and we expect that it will be far more exciting than an appearance package.
