We have been getting lots of questions lately pertaining to the launch of the Build and Price feature for the 2023 model year Dodge Challenger, Charger and Durango, but sadly, we do not know for sure when that information will go live. Fortunately, the Ram Trucks website does have the Build and Price section for the 2023 Ram 1500 TRX live, so anyone looking to do some window-shopping of a 702-horsepower pickup can do so now. With that in mind, I thought that I would put together a piece on how I would configure my ideal 2023 TRX while looking at how the prices have increased for the most powerful gasoline-powered pickup on the market.
Building a 2023 TRX Online
If you are looking to order a 2023 Ram 1500 TRX, you should be prepared to pay at least a little more than you would have for a 2022 model. There have been minor price increases in many areas due to the state of the economy and the skyrocketing cost of pretty much everything. In the case of the “base” TRX, the price has climbed from $83,790 to $84,355, up $565, but there are some other key increases. For instance, the cost of the exterior paint options have increased by $50 to $100, depending on the color chosen. Diamond Black Pearl Coat and two-tone Hydro Blue/Black were $100 for 2022, now they are $200 while the two-tone Granite Crystal and Billet Silver options have risen from $200 to $250.
Fortunately, the $1,890 delivery fee has not changed, but in short, driving away from the dealership with a 2023 Ram 1500 TRX will cost at least $86,450 – up $665 from 2022.
When you get into the option packages, the Bed Utility Group ($945), Advanced Safety Group ($995) and TRX Caron Fiber Package ($1,295) all remained unchanged for the new model year, but the TRX Level 1 Equipment Group ($3,995) is up $200 while the TRX Level 2 Equipment Group ($10,995) is up $700. The Trailer Tow Group ($595) is also up by $100.
Moving onto the individual options, it looks like pretty much everything remained the same. This includes items like the graphics packages, tonneau cover, running boards, the bed-mounted tire carrier, beadlock wheels and towing mirrors are all priced the same for 2023 as they were for 2022, so in the long run, the pricing increases for the newest Ram 1500 TRX are reserved to the base pricing, paint options and “Level” groups.
My Ideal 2023 Ram 1500 TRX
Were I to be ordering a 2023 Ram 1500 TRX, I would start with the Hydro Blue Pearl Coat two-tone with the black lower trim. I would added the Level 2 Equipment Group to get all of the premium interior goodies, along with the Bed Utility Group and the Trailer Tow Group. I would opt for the bedside and hood graphics, the off-road running boards and the tri-fold tonneau cover. I love the look of the RamBar and the bed-mounted tire carrier, but I used my bed to haul too much larger cargo to have anything getting in the way, which is why I picked the easy-to-remove tonneau cover.
All said and done, my ideal 2023 Ram 1500 TRX has a price tag of $102,315. For comparison, the same basic build on a 2022 TRX would have had an MSRP of $101,050. Considering the state of the economy and the rising costs of pretty much everything, that is a pretty unsubstantial increase on a $100k+ truck. Most importantly, the near-loaded TRX discussed here costs more than $8,000 less than a similarly-equipped Ford F-150 Raptor R that has less power and has been proven to be slower.
