Last week, off-road racing legend Ken Block teased a new Ram truck and today, that new Ram was formally introduced as the 2022 TRX Sandblast Edition. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as the Ram Trucks consumer site seemingly posted the new package early – then removed it – but it is the latest color-based special edition package for the most powerful production pickup in the world.
“Our customers want to stand out from the crowd and the new Ram 1500 TRX Sandblast Edition allows them to do just that, while offering the segment’s best combination of performance, capability and technology,” said Mike Koval Jr., Ram brand CEO – Stellantis. “We’re constantly expanding and exploring new ideas to meet the needs and fuel the imagination of our passionate customers and this is the latest example of how Ram trucks deliver features that will continue to win over more and more buyers.”
TRX Sandblast Edition
The 2022 Ram 1500 TRX Sandblast Edition is powered by the supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi, sending 702 horsepower towards the wheels by means of an 8-speed automatic transmission, an advanced four-wheel-drive system and an adaptive, adjustable Bilstein suspension setup.
Next, like previous TRX limited edition models, the Sandblast Edition is fitted with the Level 2 Equipment Group, which includes black 18-inch beadlock wheels, the dual pane panoramic sunroof, spray-in bedliner, cargo tie-downs, bed step, an LED cab-mounted brake light, TRX graphics and the unique Mojave Sand exterior color.
On the inside, the TRX Sandblast Edition features Light Frost accent stitching, embroidered “TRX” seat back logos, unique carbon fiber accents, a leather-and-carbon fiber flat–bottom steering wheel, unique center console badge, Head-up Display, a driver’s screen that features TRX in Mojave Sand and a variety of premium safety features such as adaptive cruise control, Lane Keep Assist and pedestrian emergency braking.
Price and Availability
The 2022 Ram 1500 TRX Sandblast Edition will go on sale later this summer and when it does, it will carry an MSRP of $98,285, not including the $1,796 destination fee.
What we don’t know about the Sandblast Edition yet is how many units will be produced. The TRX Launch Edition package was limited to 702 units and the Ignition Edition was limited to 875 units. The information posted early to the Ram Trucks website last week stated that inventory of this model would be limited, but the press release does not specify a production number for this new package. If the package is limited to a set number, we would expect that number to be similar to the Ignition Edition.
