Small number of 2022 Compasses recalled for bad welds

Jeep is recalling over a hundred 2022 Jeep Compasses because the front seat head restraints were not welded in the right place, which could cause injuries or death in a crash. Only 114 cars sold in the United States are affected, along with those sold outside the country (Canadian sales are typically around 10% of American sales, so the recall likely affects around a dozen Canadian sales, and a handful of sales in other countries).

The fix is to replace both front-seat head restraints, at no charge to customers, under FCA recall Z36 and federal recall 22V248.

The recall only affects cars made on two days—December 27-28, 2021. The restraints were made by Windsor Machine and Stamping of Taylor, Michigan. The issue was picked up by FCA internally, and does not seem to have caused any injuries so far.
