Two Mopars rated as Top Safety Picks

Two Mopars have been chosen as top safety picks by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The designation requires strong crash-test performance coupled with crash-avoidance capabilities and technologies. Vehicles are re-evaluated every year.

For 2022, the Chrysler Pacifica reprised its 2021 performance as a Top Safety Pick+ (Plus). Unknown to most buyers, the Pacifica comes with standard vehicle-to-vehicle automatic emergency braking (AEB) technology, which the IIHS rated as being “superior,” its highest grade. Unlike new Teslas, the Pacifica uses both cameras and radar, blended together, for both redundancy and greater freedom from false positives.

AEB is becoming phased in as standard equipment across Stellantis vehicles. It has been used by Chrysler for nearly a decade.

The Ram 1500 has earned a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS, on models with adaptive LED projector headlamps with high beam assist and AEB. Again, Mopar’s version of AEB earned a superior rating; it is included on the Rebel, Laramie, Limited Longhorn, Limited 10th Anniversary, and TRX. The Crew Cab was tested in six tests for frontal crashes, side impact, rear impact, and rollover, and delivered the highest possible score in each.
