This past weekend, the same 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 that was air-dropped at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to introduce the 1,025-horsepower rolled across the Barrett Jackson auction block in Sin City – but bidders weren’t trying to win that weathered test car. That car was simply a placeholder, with the actual auction focusing on one of the production models that will be built later this year. What made this auction special was that the Dodge Challenger on which the crowd was bidding will be painted a custom color of the winner’s choice – creating a true one-of-one example of the Demon 170.
If you missed our original article about this auction for a one-off 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, here is a quick rundown on the key details. The car has been donated by a man named Alan Potamkin. Potamkin is co-chairman of the Potamkin Automotive Group, which includes Planet Dodge in Miami, Florida, where he purchased one of their Demon 170 allocations. He then donated that car to the Kristi House – a charity that works to help victims of child abuse and human trafficking, in addition to working to prevent those crimes in the future.
While simply auctioning off a 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 would surely bring solid money to the charity, Potamkin worked with the Dodge brand to make this auction a bit more attractive. Rather than just letting the winning bidder pick from one of the standard 2023 Challenger exterior colors, they can select from any color in the PPG OEM Factory Finish lineup – leading to a one-off example of the 1,025 horsepower muscle car.

Now, since the car that will actually go to the winning bidder hasn’t been built yet, there was no way for it to roll across the Barrett Jackson auction block, and that is why Dodge was kind enough to provide the Challenger SRT Demon 170 from the big debut a few months back. As expected, the bidding was hot and heavy, with the hammer sounding with a closing price of $400,000 – at first.
The initial winning bidder then immediately donated the Demon 170 back to the charity, at which point it was auctioned off again. That second time, it closed with a price of $300,000, so the Kristi House charity ended up getting $700,000 from the sale of the custom-painted Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170. According to the folks from Barrett Jackson, Nicole Kidman was on hand to assist with the auction, and in addition to the 1,025hp muscle car, the winning bidder got a kiss from Kidman and VIP tickets to one of Keith Urban’s upcoming concerts.
