If you are a Dodge enthusiast waiting to buy a 2023 Challenger SRT Hellcat with the six-speed manual transmission, we have some good news. The manual transmission option has finally been added to the dealership order bank system for the supercharged models, after having only been available for Challenger R/T and R/T Scat Pack models earlier in the model year. The six-speed transmission is still not listed on Dodge.com in the Build & Price section, but it is officially available through dealerships.
After posts on internet forums surfaced late last week suggesting that the 6-speed manual was available for ordering, we reached out to Dodge for the official word. Unfortunately, over the course of the past few months, several outlets have shared older articles stating that the manual transmission was available for the 2023 Challenger SRT Hellcat, but hopeful buyers who contacted their dealership found that was not the case. Fortunately, this time, we got the official word from a Dodge representative:
“The Dodge Challenger Hellcat with manual transmission is now available, in low production volumes. Customers can use the Dodge Horsepower Locator tool at DodgeGarage.com to find a dealer with a remaining Challenger Hellcat allocation, and then connect with the dealer to place an order for a Challenger Hellcat with a manual transmission.”
The good news here is that the 6-speed manual transmission is finally available to order for the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. The bad news is that the supercharged muscle cars have been available for order since late last year and over the course of the past 8 months, many of the initial allocations have been ordered with the 8-speed automatic. As a result, there are relatively few Challenger SRT Hellcat allocations available around the United States, so prospective buyers will need to use the Dodge Horsepower Locator to find a dealership with a remaining allocation for a 717-horsepower Challenger. Once the customers have found an available allocation, they need to contact that dealership and begin the ordering process for their three-pedal Hellcat car.
While finding remaining allocations might be tough, there is an upside to the 6-speed manual being offered so late in the 2023 model year. With so many customers rushing to order a Challenger Hellcat for the “Last Call” with the 8-speed automatic, the vast majority of allocations for that model are gone. With a relatively low number of 717hp Hellcats left to purchase, the odds are good that there won’t be all that many built for the 2023 model year. That means that in the future, the manual cars will be rarer and more collectible, while in the short term, owners will get to row their own gears in a supercharged Mopar muscle car.
