When the 2024 Dodge Durango Hellcat was announced, many readers complained that they wanted something between the 5.7 Hemi and the extreme Hellcat. Today, on Thanksgiving Day, Stellantis announced that these people could get what they wanted, the 2024 Dodge Durango SRT 392 AlcHemI, honoring the final 6.4 liter high-performance engines.
A version of the 392 is still available in heavy-duty pickups, but while the displacement is the same, the truck version was designed for long-term durability rather than high performance.
The AlcHemist comes with yellow brakes, honey-comb-textured dual stripes, six seats with black leather seats relieved by yellow and silver stitches, fender decals, 20×10 forged wheels, black exhaust tips, and “forged carbon-fiber” interior trim. The engine itself is rated at 475 hp and 637 Nm of torque, with a 0-100 km/h time of 4.4 seconds. There will be just 1,000 made, in black, white, and two shades of gray. All come with all wheel drive.
The press release was issued by Stellantis Europe, and given that today is Thanksgiving in the United States, it is hard to tell whether the Durango 392 will be sold in North America, but chances are that it will be.
