The 2024 calendar year has arrived, so we wanted to take a quick look at the trim levels and engine availability for those different variations of the 2024 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty. As this piece is published, the 2024 Ram 2500 is available in six trim levels with two engine options and two transmissions while the seventh – the mighty Power Wagon – is still offered exclusively with the 6.4-liter Hemi V8. However, those folks who are buying a 2024 Ram 2500 with plans to play off-road, but who also want Cummins power, can opt for the Rebel.
It should be noted that this information comes from the Ram Trucks media information, so there are some slight differences from what is currently available on the consumer website, based on current product offerings.
2024 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Trim Levels
The 2024 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty is currently offered in seven trim levels – Tradesman, Big Horn (sold as Lone Star in Texas), Power Wagon, Rebel, Laramie, Limited Longhorn and Limited. Of those models, the Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Limited Longhorn and Limited all come standard with rear-wheel-drive while four-wheel-drive is standard in the 2024 Ram 2500 Power Wagon and Rebel – per the media materials. However, it should be noted that right now, you can only pick the Tradesman and Laramie with rear-wheel-drive, as the system lists 4×4 as standard on all other trim levels right now.
The 6.4-liter Hemi V8 is standard in all seven trim levels, offering 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission is also standard with the Hemi.
Those who want more working functionality can opt for the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel inline-six engine, which delivers 370 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque. As mentioned above, even the off-road-ready Ram 2500 Rebel can be fitted with the Cummins diesel, providing a great mix of fun and function for 3/4-ton buyers. In the proper configuration, this engine yields up to 20,000 pounds of towing capacity with help from the standard 6-speed automatic transmission (there is no manual transmission option for the 2024 Ram 2500). For those wondering, the 2500 Rebel with the Cummins Turbo Diesel has a towing capacity of 14,920 pounds.
Current 2024 Ram 2500 Pricing
The lowest priced 2024 Ram 2500 is the Tradesman with the Regular cab, an 8-foot bed, rear-wheel-drive and the Hemi at $47,740. The next step up in price class is the Big Horn/Lone Star, but since it is currently only available in four-wheel-drive, it is a big step, with that model starting at $59,730 with the Crew Cab and 6’4” bed. The Laramie with rear-wheel-drive, the Crew Cab and the 8-foot bed starts at $65,370, but you have to pick one of the two Laramie Equipment Groups, so the base price really starts at $69,210. (Prices mentioned here do not include destination charges or any applicable discounts, so actual local pricing is likely to vary.)
When you Build and Price the 2024 Ram 2500 Limited Longhorn as this point in time, there is only one engine option – the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel. That leads to a “base price” of $85,510, which includes the Crew Cab, the 6’4” bed and four-wheel-drive. The Limited trim level is also currently only offered with four-wheel-drive and the Cummins diesel engine, leading to a starting price of $89,405.
Keep in mind that these prices are based on the information currently listed on the Ram Trucks website (January 2024), so feature availability and pricing is subject to change as time goes on.
When you step over to the off-road-themed 2024 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty pickups, the Rebel starts at $70,495, and that includes standard four-wheel-drive and the Hemi, but the system also requires you to add the 20-inch wheels for $995, which effectively raises the base price of this model up to $71,490. When you add the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel, the price of the 2024 Ram 2500 Rebel climbs to $81,285.
Finally, the 2024 Ram 2500 Power Wagon starts at $71,590 and that includes the standard Hemi, four-wheel-drive and the Crew Cab configuration with the 6’4” bed.
