Custom 1968 Charger Features Modern Power, AWD and Supercar Suspension

There are always some unique vehicles at the annual Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge in Pontiac, but this 1968 Dodge Charger might be the most unique that I have seen at the legendary automotive festival. At first glance, you might assume that this is just a classic car clad in a custom body, but it is far more than just an aesthetic build.

1968 Dodge Charger Custom

Owner Steve Calabro has no automotive repair or engineering training, yet he has transformed this 1968 Dodge Charger from a bare chassis to one of the most unique B bodies I’ve ever seen. Aside from designing and building the full-metal custom widebody treatment, he added all-wheel-drive, he installed a 5.7-liter Hemi that is moved back behind the front axle (making it a mid-engine car) and he replaced the standard suspension with a pushrod suspension system that uses centrally-mounted, horizontal coilovers, similar to the design used on high end supercars and race cars. And again, all of the engineering, design and build work was done by the owner, who has no experience or training in automotive repair, design or engineering.

Not everyone loves the front end design, but the amount of work that this enthusiast put into transforming this 1968 Dodge Charger is remarkable. Click here to read all about it over at Dodge Garage.
