Allpar member Somber noted yesterday’s story on Stellantis providing owners with a free HEVO charger (without installation) or $600 in Free2Move credits. The story cited General Motors as providing free installation as well as a charger; Somber wrote that GM pays up to a fairly respectable limit, covering reasonable costs for an electrician but not extending so far as, say, a higher capacity electrical box.
Interestingly, GM does not seem to restrict buyers to a specific brand of charger. Stellantis does limit to HEVO, which is an interesting choice; it’s wireless, not requiring the owner to plug anything in. The good thing is one just has to drive over the pad; the bad thing is, it can only do one car at a time, and may not be suitable for all owners. The wireless nature of the beast also means it’s a bit lossy, and is limited to 8 kW (32 amp) charging. A 48-amp charger can work 50% faster.
