The arrival of the all-electric Dodge Charger Daytona at dealerships around the country is drawing near, and in preparation of the beginning of deliveries, the company has issued the first commercial for the 670-horsepower electric vehicle. You can watch that video, titled “Saving the Planet”, below.
When you hear that title, you might think that this commercial for the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona talks about the green movement and the push for an emission-free world. As you watch the commercial, the first 25 seconds follow that line of thinking as well, talking about how Dodge is building the new electric Charger Daytona to save the planet and preserve a better future for our children.
However, the second half of the video takes a unique twist, explaining that the Dodge Charger Daytona isn’t saving the planet from global warming or climate change but rather, this new Charger is saving the world from “all those lame, soulless, self-driving sleep pods”. The rest of the video is packed with footage of the next generation Charger sliding around turns and blasting through tunnels, accompanied by the roar of the controversial Fratzonic “exhaust note”.
If you hate EVs and hate the new Charger Daytona because you hate EVs, you are going to hate this commercial, too. If you are more accepting of our governmentally-electrified future, this commercial serves as a nice reminder that in a future packed full of bland EVs, at least there will be one option that is shaped like a normal car and that car offers Hellcat-like performance.
