This week, GM announced that it was ready to sell its entire range of Chevy Blazer EVs. The Blazer starts with the LT, at $44,600, with an 18-inch interior screen, 334 mile range, and 8-year/100,000 mile battery warranty. Normally sold with rear wheel drive, it has a range of 283 miles when buyers opt for the dual motor all wheel drive configuration. This may be one of the vehicles buyers compare against the Wagoneer S later in the year.
An RS version with added features starts at $49,900. The SS is the top model, running from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds and coming with the Super Cruise system. It will start at $60,600, and boasts 595 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque using the “Wide Open Watts” temporary power boost.
All Blazers use the Ultium batteries, which can be repaired at a modular level if damaged in a crash—unlike Tesla and Stellantis batteries. The Ultium battery is rated at 150kW DC for a fast charge or 11.5kW for AC slow charges. The charge cord appears to be included. As with other GM EVs, the driver information/entertainment system is provided by Google. The motor and transmission come from Mexico, where the Blazer is assembled, but 62% of the parts come from the US and Canada.
Most versions of the Blazer are available now, not counting the SS, which is due in early 2025. GM’s site claims that the cheapest model available is a 2024 Blazer LT with all wheel drive, selling for $40,740 after federal rebate, $5,000 dealership discount, and destination charges, but without any other discounts (such as the military or loyalty discounts); the list price is $50,195. This one has the 279-mile range, twin motors, comfort and convenience package, and driver confidence package. Pricing for a rear wheel drive model was not available.
