Next week, around 1,100 union members at the Warren Stamping Plant north of Detroit are voting on whether to strike over unresolved health and safety issues. Warren supplies more than half of the company’s North American assembly plants.
The union cited issues around protective gear such as gloves, leaking ceilings, lighting, flooring, ventilation, ergonomic mattes, oil leaks, rest rooms, and sanitation.
The first report on this strike vote came through Automotive News, in a Vince Bond, Jr. story.
A company representative sent the same comment to Automotive News and to Stellpower—that they were assessing and hoping to resolve these problems without a strike.
Stellantis is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. The Company is in discussions with UAW Local 869 to assess open health and safety grievances at the Warren (Michigan) Stamping Plant and aims to resolve this matter without a work stoppage.
