Jeep has recalled two sets of vehicles for two different problems. 2021-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokees may have front seat airbags that do not work in a crash, because of an improperly secured connector. The solution is obvious, and every affected vehicle has already been fixed, making the paperwork seem superfluous; and only 14 vehicles sold in the USA were affected, suggesting that fewer than 20 were made with the flaw.
The Jeep Renegade recall affects over 2,000 vehicles, and has a rather different problems—the wrong reverse lights may have been installed. The fix is to inspect and replace the reverse lights, if needed. This recall will likely be conducted in or before February 2025.
BMW had more serious recalls, a roof frame crack which can damage the airbag while it’s in use on the 2025 X4 and loss of control from a cracked wheel swivel bearing on the 2025 X3. Finally, the 2024 Toyota RAV4 and 2025 Lexus NX may have loose bolts on the brake caliper and wheel hub bearing, with less than hilarious results.
