Jeep, or as Stellantis oddly refers to it “The Jeep® brand,” showed a basic drawing of the next-generation Compass today. This is a to be made on the STLA Medium platform/architecture.
The Compass will reportedly have both gasoline-hybrid and electric versions, possibly with a pure gasoline version as well. It will debut in Europe in 2025, made in Italy; then it is to be built at Brampton, the former large-car facility, in Canada. In 2026 the Compass will be available globally.
STLA Medium is essentially a Peugeot platform/architecture updated for North American production and Jeep needs. It covers the European C and D sizes, essentially American large compact and mid-sized niches, ranging from the Renegade or Neon up to the Cherokee or Stratus size; the original Plymouth Duster’s wheelbase is well within Medium’s length limits, but ground clearance reportedly peaks at 8.7 inches; this is subject to change.
Battery power is estimated at 218-388 hp (with two options), while gasoline power is likely to come from the 1.6 liter Peugeot engine hooked up to an electric motor, with an outside possibility of a 2-liter turbo four-cylinder.

After a chemo-induced break, during which he wrote car books covering Vipers, minivans, and Jeeps, he returned with Patrick Rall to create StellPower.com for daily news, and to set up MoTales for mo’ tales.
