Jeep had three Top Safety Picks for the 2024 model-year, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which rates cars on several crash tests as well as crash avoidance, including headlight brightness and freedom from glare.
Jeep’s three Top Safety Pick winners were the two 2024-25 Jeep Grand Cherokees, in regular and L form, and the 2024 Wagoneer. Wagoneer headlights were Acceptable for the Series II, or any other trim with the convenience package. Glare was good for all Wagoneer headlights.
No Maserati, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Dodge, or Chrysler models appeared to make the cut.
Hyundai had no fewer nine models with the Top Safety Pick rating, not including Kias. Mazda had eight vehicles with the rating. Ford had four, including two variants of the F-150
Stellantis’ showing could be worse. Not a single GM vehicle made the cut.
Rivian had its entire product line pass—but it only makes the R1S and R1T. The 2025 R1S and the R1T were both Top Safety Pick Plus rated, while the 2024 R1s was not a Plus.

After a chemo-induced break, during which he wrote car books covering Vipers, minivans, and Jeeps, he returned with Patrick Rall to create StellPower.com for daily news, and to set up MoTales for mo’ tales.
David Zatz has around 30 years of experience in covering Chrysler/Mopar news and history, and most recently wrote Century of Chrysler, a 100-year retrospective on the Chrysler marque.
