Longtime Allpar member Matty Fisher, a fixture at many Carlisle shows, was recently featured on NBC News Daily in connection with her minivan, “Baby.” The piece is centered around falling minivan sales, and those who still love them. It was streamed on the NBC News Now channel and showed on-air; the piece can now be watched by itself.
After the filming, Mattie wrote, “I never thought in a million years that something like this would ever happen, and I am still on cloud nine.” She is an example of the flip side of “the death of the minivan.” The correspondents and their team “spent three hours taking pics, video, and asking me about Baby. Sam Brock took a ride with us, and asked questions.”
The news report does not mention the one book which delves deeply into the full minivan story—Mopar Minivans, which has been on sale for the last few years. However, thanks to Mattie’s segment, it does review some of the key advantages of minivans, which remain as valid as they have ever been.
David Zatz started what was to become the world’s biggest, most comprehensive Mopar site in 1994 as he pursued a career in organizational research and change. After a chemo-induced break, during which he wrote car books covering Vipers, minivans, and Jeeps, he returned with Patrick Rall to create StellPower.com for daily news, and to set up MoTales for mo’ tales.
David Zatz has around 30 years of experience in covering Chrysler/Mopar news and history, and most recently wrote Century of Chrysler, a 100-year retrospective on the Chrysler marque.
