A week ago, we brought you the first teaser from Mopar’s 2024 SEMA Show display, which appears to be a production-based Ram truck. The company released the second teaser for the legendary trade show in Vegas; this time, they appear to be focusing on a classic Plymouth.
The only text accompanying the sole, shadowy image does not provide many clues:
“Chapter 2: Muscle Flex. What kind of future is there for a legendary muscle car? A concept from Mopar may show the answer.”
This appears to be a 1966/1967 Plymouth Belvedere or Satellite, based on the leading edge of the hood and the headlight layout. Nothing else is based on any production car from the 1960s. The hood has massive vents and there appears to be a prominent chin spoiler extending out from under the front bumper.
I am sure that some people will see the word “concept” above and assume that this vehicle might be coming to production, but I don’t think that the company is planning to introduce any new vehicles based on a 1966/7 Plymouth. Mopar calls every custom vehicle that they bring to SEMA a “concept,” so this concept car is almost certainly more about showing off Mopar performance parts than the car itself.
Mopar already sells some body panels for classic Plymouth models, so perhaps the 1966/7 Plymouth will be the next on that list. I expect that this car will pack a big crate engine, but will it be a Hemi or a Hurricane…or will it be an electric vehicle? We will find out when SEMA opens next month, and you can find that info here on Stellpower.
