Recalls from Ford, Mercedes, BMW, and others

Yesterday, Stellantis issued a cautionary notice on its 4xe Jeeps, which overshadowed a hefty number of recalls from other automakers. Ford, for example, had two recalls, one on 2024 Explorers whose battery cable may short-circuit, and one on 2024 Bronco Sports which can stall. The widest recall may have been on BMW/Mini/Rolls-Royce, with a panoply of 2023-25 models, all of which may have badly welded and failing brake control modules. Other braking issues were in 2024 Mercedes E and CLE series, 2013-19 GMC and Chevrolet Express/Savana cutaway vans which may have brake leaks due to line damage, and 2023-24 Toyota Corolla Cross hybrids which may lose power brake assistance.

Fiat 124 Spider “Fiata”

Mazda and Fiat both recalled their sports cars, the 2016-23 MX-5 (Miata) and 2017-20 124 (Fiata), because the airbags may have excessive force. Mercedes’ emergency braking system may drop out on a variety of 2024 vehicles in the E and CLE models. 2024 Lambos may have incorrectly installed front brackets. GM may have “improperly” tightened seat belt bolts on 2023 Canyons and 2023-24 Colorados. 2021-23 Mercedes and Maybach S580 cars may stall.  Overall, it was a busy recall month.
