Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge Moves Back to M1 Concourse for 2024

Back in early June, we brought you the news that Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge would be back for 2024, but at that time, we didn’t know exactly when or where the event would be held. However, we now know that for 2024, Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge is moving back to M1 Concourse and it will be held on August 10th.

2023 Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge

We expected that 2024 Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge would be the weekend before the Woodward Dream Cruise, as that has typically been the case over the course of the past decade, but the location was the big question. The first year of the event was held at the now-gone Silverdome in Pontiac back in 2015, then it moved to the M1 Concourse road racing facility from 2016 through 2022, but for 2023, it moved to a vacant parking lot further north along Woodward Ave. After the move in 2023, it was unclear where Roadkill Nights 2024 would be located, but many regular attendees will be happy to hear that the event is moving back to M1 Concourse.

The key reason for the move away from M1 Concourse for the 2023 event was road construction on Woodward near the venue. Roadkill Nights has showcased legal street racing since the move to M1 back in 2016, so road work near the track put a wrench in the works. To avoid the issue and to preserve the street racing program, Roadkill Nights moved north, to a stretch of Woodward Ave that was smoother, providing better footing for the racing action. However, the 2023 location posed a variety of challenges that proved frustrating to attendees, including parking headaches and a nightmarish security process that required people to wait every time they came in – including times that people went to look at the car show area.

Fortunately, with the move back to the M1 Concourse, all of the attractions of Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge will be back within the confines of the sprawling track venue, so attendees will be able to enjoy all aspects of the event without dealing with several hours of security line fun. That includes the Dodge Thrill Ride areas (there are usually two, but there may be a Ram truck thrill ride area, too), the car show area, food trucks, the midway area with all sorts of items for sale and the grandstands to watch the street racing action on Woodward Avenue. There is usually much more convenient parking, as well.

As a reminder, the Grudge Match program for 2024 Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge will feature the new twin turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine, so it will be interesting to see how the teams do with this engine compared to the supercharged Hemi V8s that have been featured in the past Grudge Match programs.

We expect more official information on Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge very soon, but for now, those planning trips to the Motor City know the date and location for the 2024 event. In short, you will want to take the week of August 12-16 off, so that you can get into town on the night of the 9th, go to Roadkill Nights on the 10th, enjoy local automotive festivities throughout the week, hit the Modern Street Hemi Shootout event at Milan Dragway on Friday the 16th and go to the Woodward Dream Cruise on Saturday, August 17th.
