Stellantis today reaffirmed that it is giving each of its 14 “powerful, iconic brands” a ten year timeframe to “build a profitable and sustainable business.” The statement called out Chrysler and Dodge as being “at the forefront of Stellantis” transformation to clean mobility” and specified that “The Company is not pursing splitting off any of its brands.”
Rumors of the sales have been spreading due mainly to YouTube personalities claiming it was already in the works, and were fueled by rumors that the Chrysler Technology Center is being emptied and sold and that BYD, the Chinese electric car company, had visited at least one Canadian factory (Brampton). People from different car companies do visit each others’ factories on a more or less regular basis.
David Zatz started what was to become the world’s biggest, most comprehensive Mopar site in 1994 as he pursued a career in organizational research and change. After a chemo-induced break, during which he wrote car books covering Vipers, minivans, and Jeeps, he returned with Patrick Rall to create StellPower.com for daily news, and to set up MoTales for mo’ tales.
David Zatz has around 30 years of experience in covering Chrysler/Mopar news and history, and most recently wrote Century of Chrysler, a 100-year retrospective on the Chrysler marque.
