There have been rumors floating around the internet that Dodge is making some changes to the Charger Daytona lineup for the coming model year and last night, the company confirmed a portion of these rumors. Production of the 2026 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T is being postponed, but the higher powered Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack is still in the plans, as are the Charger sedan and the gasoline-powered Six Pack models.
“Production of the Dodge Charger Daytona R/T is postponed for the 2026 model year as we continue to assess the effects of U.S. tariff policies,” said Dodge CEO Matt McAlear. “The Charger’s flexible, multi-energy STLA Large platform allows us to focus on the Charger Daytona Scat Pack’s performance as the world’s quickest and most powerful muscle car, add the new four-door model to the Charger mix for the 2026 model year and lean into the new Charger SIXPACK models that will launch in the second half of the year.”
As you likely know, the Charger is produced in Canada and with new tariffs being imposed on all sorts of items including new cars built outside of the United States, the Charger is subject to those tariffs. That means that the price of the Charger is likely to increase, and for the lower performance Daytona R/T – that could hurt sales. When we take into consideration the deals being advertised on 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T models, we suspect that they are not moving as well as the company had hoped and increasing the cost on a car that already isn’t selling well is not a recipe for success.
The good news for anyone who really had their heart set on buying a Dodge Charger Daytona R/T is that there are still quite a few available at dealerships around the country and you can probably get a pretty good deal on one as we near the 2026 model year.
In the meantime, Dodge will seemingly continue to build the high performance Charger Daytona Scat Pack 2-door along with beginning production of the new Charger Daytona sedan and both the sedan and coupe versions of the Hurricane I6-powered Charger Six Pack.
