Stellantis confirmed to Crain’s Detroit recently that it was delaying production of several Ram pickups.
The Ram 1500 REV was known to be pushed back in favor of the unique serial-hybrid Ramcharger, in what most hailed as a sensible move since GM, Ford, and Rivian all have electric pickups. The company said the electric pickup, unveiled in 2023, won’t arrive until summer 2027, as a 2028 model.
Crain’s Detroit also reported that the Ramcharger itself won’t arrive this year as planned, but will be pushed back to the first quarter of 2026.
There have been no recent updates on the planned midsized pickup, which will almost certainly launch with a gasoline powerplant, or on the 1.6 liter Peugeot engines set for production in Dundee—or any vehicles that might use them, with the U.S. version of the next-generation Compass on indefinite hold.
