SmartCockpit was to “seamlessly integrate with customers’ digital lives to create personalized, intuitive in-vehicle experiences.” It would use Alexa and AI for entertainment, navigation, maintenance, and even in-car payments. The first results were due in 2024, but never arrived.
Stellantis still uses Amazon services including Fire TV in the Pacifica and its cloud computing. Alexa is in some Stellantis cars, from the 500e to the Grand Cherokee, as well as cars from other automakers. Stellantis has so far not hooked up with Apple for CarPlay Ultra; Hyundai will likely be the first mass-market company to use that system.
