Two Ram issues hit the NHTSA list yesterday. One was for improperly connected airbags on the 2019-24 Ram 1500, but is much smaller than one would think—it only affects 71 pickups (and a few sold outside the US)!
The airbag on these vehicles may not fire up on vehicles with a poorly secured electrical connector. The parts were made by BCS, a Michigan supplier, and are part of the steering column comntrol module. Since the specific vehicles involved are only known to Stellantis at this time, owners should wait for a notification, which should arrive in early June.
In addition, the 2025 Ram 2500-3500 may show the wrong gear when sold with the 3.5-inch cluster and column shift. Around 800 trucks are involved, again making for a fairly small recall.
Ford had much more serious issues, albeit still affecting relatively few vehicles. On the 2024-25 Bronco, the lower control arm may come off; there are just three cars involved, with a “do not drive” warning (the dealer will come and tow). On the 2025 F-150, the fasteners on the lower intermediate shaft may be loose; this is for over 9,000 trucks, and can cause loss of control. Fortunately, owners of these cars don’t have the same problem as owners of 2022-24 Navigator-Expeditions: on those big SUVs, the brakes can fail due to fluid leaks.
GM wrapped up an all-American-recall week with badly welded head restraints on the 2025 Express and Savana commercial vans, which goes to show that they still make the Express and Savana. Just 32 are affected.
