Adding smaller-than-stock doors has long been a popular aftermarket upgrade for Jeep Wrangler owners, but thanks to the new Dual Door Group, you can now get a half-door from the factory. To be more specific, the half-doors come along with the vehicle when ordered as part of the Dual Door Group, but the “normal” full doors actually come equipped from the factory. With a simple swap to the half doors, new Wrangler owners can enjoy more open-air feel with the added safety of lower door assembly.
“The open-air freedom of driving the Jeep Wrangler is a one-of-a-kind experience,” said Jim Morrison, Vice President, Jeep Brand North America. “Now with the latest Dual-Door Group factory offering from Mopar and its full catalog of authentic Jeep Performance Parts, our active-lifestyle enthusiasts can easily push the open-air envelope further.”
Wrangler Dual Door Group
As mentioned above, the Jeep Wrangler in both two- and four-door configurations can now be ordered with the Dual Door Group. This doesn’t change how the vehicle is built, as it still has the traditional full doors, but it also comes with a package that contains the body colored half doors and the unique window assemblies.
The Wrangler half doors bolt up to the same hinge points as the full doors and both styles of doors use the same wiring harness, so all of the door-based features work with the half doors. This includes power mirrors, blind spot detection, passive entry and power locks. According to the press release, swapping from the full doors to the half doors can be done “within minutes”.
As you can see in the pictures, when installed, the half doors extend up to just past the door handles, doing away with the windows, the window frames and the upper-most portion of the main door panel.
Windows Included
In addition to the half doors, a set of removable window panels is included with the Dual Door Group. Available in either “base-model vinyl” or “premium acrylic”, these panels have material that matches the two different soft top options, creating a seamless look when everything is all buttoned-up. The window panels install and remove with a guide-post system that doesn’t require any tools, so you can take them off or put them on in a hurry.
Pricing
The Dual Door Group for the Jeep Wrangler with the base model vinyl windows starts at $2,350 for the two-door models and $3,995 for four-door models. Those who have the premium top will pay $2,550 for the two-door and $4,395 for the four-door packages.
The Dual Door Group can be added to the Jeep Wrangler Sport, Rubicon, Sahara, Rubicon 392 and 4xe models, and it is available for order now.
