Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 Production Totals, Colors, and Options

Dodge stopped making the modern Dodge Challenger and Charger last week. The final car completed on the Brampton Assembly Plant was an SRT Demon 170, with 1,025 horsepower. With the final car made, we can take an exclusive look at the popularity of the legendary muscle car’s various colors and options.

First, though, these are not official figures from Dodge/Stellantis. The automaker has generally not provided breakdowns of colors or options, so we have turned to the community instead.

The following SRT Demon 170 information was provided by Todd Kerr, an administrator in the best Demon 170 Facebook group; more importantly, he is well-known in the online Mopar community for his ability to provide information on select cars that have been ordered. Kerr (who does not work for Stellantis in any capacity) provided members of that SRT Demon 170 group with updates on their cars, including when they were built; and his information has been proven to be completely accurate. With that in mind, we believe that the production information numbers provided below, while unofficial, are accurate.

When the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 was first introduced, it was expected that the 1,025-horsepower package would be offered in the same selection of exterior colors as the rest of the 2023 Challenger lineup. That would change due to the introduction of the ultra-exclusive Jailbreak program, but the vast majority of Demon 170s built are finished in one of the 14 standard colors for the 2023 model year.

Also, Dodge initially announced that they planned to build 3,300 examples of the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 and based on Kerr’s info, they built 3,301. Of those, 2,997 were built for the United States, 300 were built for Canada and 4 were built for unspecified export markets.

The most popular exterior color for the 2023 Challenger SRT Demon 170 was Pitch Black, with 671 buyers going that route. Sublime was second at 416 units, Plum Crazy Purple was third at 389, Destroyer Gray ranked fourth with 295 and TorRed rounded out the top five with 289. My personal favorite color – Go Mango – was sixth with 257 Demon 170s finished in that hue. The full list of Demon 170 production by color is available below.

If you have paid much attention to the rollout of the 2023 Challenger SRT Demon 170, you likely know that a small group of specially selected Dodge customers were presented the option of picking a unique paint color. Our understanding is that those folks who were invited to take part in the 170 Jailbreak program were sent a package of color cards (shown below) with a spread of classic colors and spread of modern colors from which to pick. Once someone picked one of those colors, it would not be available to other buyers, making the 170 Jailbreak cars one-of-one.

According to Kerr’s information, 28 people who ordered a 2023 Demon 170 paid the $30,000 fee for the one-of-one exterior paint, but he does not have a full list of the colors chosen. I am working on putting together a list of those colors, but it will take some time, as one person who ordered a Jailbreak 170 isnt expecting it to be delivered until later in the first quarter of 2024. As we get more information on those Jailbreak cars, we will share it with our readers.

Those 28 cars came off of the Brampton line in Pitch Black – one of which was the final car down the line.

2023 Demon 170 Option Popularity

The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 had relatively few options, including interior colors and configuration, carbon fiber wheels, a sunroof and graphics.

The Demon 170 interior was offered in four forms – single cloth seat, full cloth, full black leather/Alcantara and full Demonic Red Laguna leather – with “full” meaning that the car came with a passenger seat, a rear seat and all of the hardware (including seat belts) that comes with the full seating layout. Of the 3,301 Demon 170s built, just 50 were built with the single cloth seat layout while 99 opted for the full cloth interior. The vast majority of buyers opted for leather, with 2,087 going with the black while the other 1,065 picked Demonic Red.

As for the wheels, 826 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 buyers paid the extra $11,495 for the carbon fiber wheels, but I happen to know that number was heavily limited by the production capacity of the company providing the wheels. Many, many people who ordered a Demon 170 on day 1 wanted the carbon fiber wheels, but they sold out in a hurry. Some owners were put on a list, should more come available, so it seems possible that more than 826 cars will end up with the carbon fiber wheels, but right now, our unofficial number is 826.

Finally, 773 people who ordered a 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 paid the $9,995 price for the power sunroof.

In closing, I want to thank Todd Kerr on the behalf of the Demon 170 community for taking the time to track production and provide details to buyers who were patiently waiting for their 1,025-horsepower muscle car to arrive – and for sharing the information that he accumulated on Demon 170 production.
