2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Vs 2023 Challenger and Charger Dimensions

Since the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee Concept was introduced back in the fall of 2022, many Mopar enthusiasts have gotten a chance to check out the electric coupe at events around the country. It doesn’t look like a dramatically larger vehicle, but with the debut of the production versions of the 2024 Charger Daytona coupe in R/T and Scat Pack form, we have our first official dimensions for the new Dodge muscle car. As it turns out, the new Charger is quite a bit bigger than both the 2023 Challenger and the 2023 Charger.

When we learned that the 2024 Dodge Charger would be offered as coupe and a sedan and that the two body styles would share a common wheelbase, we were pretty surprised that the wheelbase of the new coupe would work for a sedan as well. However, once we looked at the interior and exterior specifications for the 2024 Charger Daytona coupe compared to the 2023 Challenger and Charger, we found that the new car is bigger inside and outside than outgoing sedan – even though it doesn’t look larger.

2024 Dodge Charger Exterior Compared to the 2023 Cars

The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona coupe has a wheelbase of 121 inches, an overall length of 206.5-206.6 inches. The 2023 Dodge Challenger has a wheelbase of 116 inches and a length of 197.5-197.7 inches while the 2023 Charger has a wheelbase of 120 inches and a length of 198.4- 201 inches. In other words, the new Dodge Charger Daytona coupe has a wheelbase that is 5 inches longer than the Challenger and 1 inch longer than the 2023 Charger while having an overall length that is 9 inches longer than the Challenger and at least 5.5 inches longer than the 2023 Charger. You read that right – the new Charger coupe is a half a foot longer than the previous Charger sedan.

Next, the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona coupe has a height of 58.9-59 inches, a width (without mirrors) of 79.8 inches and ground clearance of 5.5-5.6 inches. For comparison, the 2023 Challenger had a height of 58.4 for the all-wheel-drive models (57.2 for RWD models), a width without mirrors of 75.7 inches for the narrow body and 78.3 inches for the widebody and ground clearance of 4.5 – 5.2 inches. As for the 2023 Charger, it has a height of 58.5 for the AWD models (57.6 for RWD models), a width without mirrors of 75 inches for narrow body models and 78.3 inches for widebody models and the same ground clearance of 4.5 – 5.2 inches as the Challenger. Based on this grouping of measurements, the new all-wheel-drive Charger Daytona coupe is about a half inch taller than the AWD Challenger and 4-tenths of an inch for the AWD 2023 Charger, it is an inch and a half wider than the widebody Challenger and widebody 2023 Charger and it has between 3 tenths and an inch more ground clearance than the 2023 Dodge cars.

Finally, the new Daytona R/T coupe has a front track that measures 68.7 inches and a rear track that measures 69.1 inches while the new Daytona Scat Pack front track is 67.2 inches and the rear is 67.6 inches. When we first saw that the Charger Daytona R/T had a front and rear track that were each an inch and a half wider than the Daytona Scat Pack, that seemed a bit odd, seeing as how the higher performance Scat Pack model comes with wider wheels and tires. We reached out to the brand for confirmation and we were informed of an interesting difference between the two new BEV muscle cars.

The 2024 Charger Daytona models with wider factory wheels have unique spindles that move the wheel inward, whereas the previous generation Dodge cars pushed the wheels outward for a wider track. The engineers of the new Charger Daytona BEV found that moving the wider wheels and tires inward and going with a slightly narrower track yields better performance.

The 202 Challenger has a front track of 63.4 inches (narrow body) and 65.6 inches (widebody) with a rear track of 63.8 (narrow body) and 65.7 (widebody), so the new Daytona R/T has a track that is 3.1 inches wider in the front and 3.4 inches wider in the rear than the outgoing Challenger widebody. The new Scat Pack is 1.6 inches wider up front and 1.9 inches wider out back when compared to the 2023 Challenger Widebody.

The 2023 Charger narrow body has a front track of 63.4 inches and a rear track of 63.8 inches, while widebody models have a front track of 65.6 inches and a rear track of 65.3 inches. When comparing the 2023 Charger widebody to the 2024 Charger Daytona coupe, the new R/T is 3.1 inches wider up front and 3.8 inches wider out back. The new Scat Pack is 1.6 inches wider in the front and 2.3 inches wider out back.

In short, the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona coupe in R/T and Scat Pack form is dimensionally larger than the 2023 Challenger and the 2023 Charger. Not surprisingly, that trend continues on the inside.

2024 Dodge Charger Interior Compared to the 2023 Cars

The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona coupe has 39.1 inches of front headroom and 36.9 inches of rear headroom. The 2023 Challenger has 39.3 inches of headroom and 37.1 inches of rear headroom while the 2023 Charger has 38.6 inches of headroom up front and 36.6 inches of rear headroom. The 2023 Challenger has a touch more front headroom than the 2024 Charger, but the new Daytona coupe has more rear headroom than the Challenger and more front and rear headroom than the outgoing Charger sedan.

Dodge Charger Seats

Moving to shoulder space, the 2024 Charger Daytona offers 59.5 inches up front and 57.6 in the rear. For comparison, the 2023 Challenger has 58.5 inches in the front and 53.9 inches out back while the 2023 Charger offers 59.5 inches of shoulder room in the front seats and 57.9 inches in the rear – giving the new Charger Daytona an advantage over the outgoing coupe in both front and rear shoulder space, but the new car has the same front shoulder space as the 2023 Charger while the outgoing sedan has a bit more shoulder room in the rear seat.

When we get to hip space, the 2024 Charger Daytona coupe has 56.3 inches up front and 56.1 inches in the back seats. The 2023 Challenger offered 55.3 inches in the front and 47.8 inches out back, giving the new car an advantage over the previous coupe in both areas. However, with the 2023 Charger sedan offering 56.2 inches up front and 56.1 inches in the back seat, so the new coupe and previous sedan are nearly identical.

Finally, in terms of leg room, the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona coupe offers 42.6 inches up front and 37.2 inches out back. The 2023 Challenger offers 42 inches of leg room in the front seats and 33.1 inches in the rear outboard seats, giving the new Charger coupe a pretty substantial advantage. The 2023 Charger sedan came with 41.8 inches of leg room in the front and 40.1 inches in the back seat, so the new Charger coupe has an advantage in front leg room, but not surprisingly, the outgoing sedan had a big advantage in rear leg room.
