2024 Dodge Charger Six Pack Vs the Gas 2-door Competitors

The Hemi might not be available, but the 2025 Dodge Charger Six Pack will provide anti-EV Mopar fans with a gasoline-powered option when the next generation arrives. There will be two variations, both of which will come with the twin turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel-drive. The standard output model will deliver 420 horsepower and the high output models will pack 550 horsepower – making it more powerful than the outgoing 5.7-liter of 6.4-liter Hemi.

We get it – a 550 horsepower inline-six isn’t the same as a monster V8, so for many, the lack of a Hemi might as well lead to no gasoline engines at all. Those folks are going to hate the new car no matter what. For those who like the look of the next generation Dodge Charger, but who don’t want an EV and who aren’t put off by the inline-six engine configuration, there is a pretty stout option in the 550hp package.

In fact, based on current models that we expect will still be offered when the 2025 Dodge Charger Six Pack comes to market next year, it will be the most powerful two-door on market under $100,000. We don’t know how much the Charger Six Pack High Output models will cost, but we expect that it will be well below $100,000. With that in mind, we have put together a list of the most powerful configurations of the other two-door cars that we expect will be on the market at this time next year. As you will see, this is a very diverse lineup of two-door models, but for someone shopping for a sporty two-door in 2025, these are all of the options under $100,000.

American Two-Door Competition

The most powerful Ford Mustang right now is the Dark Horse with 500 horsepower, which is also the most powerful American competitor (under $100k) to the 2025 Dodge Charger Six Pack. There is certainly a possibility that Ford will introduce a higher power model in the future, but right now, the most powerful Mustang has 500 horsepower.

From Chevrolet, the Camaro exists for 2024, but it will be gone at this time next year, leaving the Corvette as the only sporty two-door model from General Motors. The Corvette Z06 packs 670 horsepower, but the MSRP starts well above $100,000, so it is unlikely that anyone will be cross-shopping a Charger Six Pack and a Corvette Z06. In fact, it is unlikely that anyone will cross-shop any Corvette and a new Dodge Charger, as they are two very different cars, but we wanted to include all sporty two-doors under $100,000. The Corvette Stingray with the Z51 package has a price under $100,000 and packs 495 horsepower.

Japanese Competition Falls Very Short

Toyota, Nissan, Subaru and Mazda all offer sporty two-door models, but they are all much smaller cars with way less power. The most powerful option under $100,000 is the Nissan Z Nismo model with 420 horsepower from a twin turbocharged 3.0-liter V6. Nissan also has the 600 horsepower GTR, but the price of that car starts well over the $100,000 mark and, like the Z06, we don’t believe that many people are cross-shopping a new Dodge Charger against a GTR.

Nissan Z Nismo

Next is the Toyota Supra, which also features a twin turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine (from BMW) to deliver 382 horsepower. The Supra is a hell of a fun car to drive, especially on a road course, but the next Charger Six Pack will offer more power in both trim levels.

The Supra is joined in the Toyota lineup by the 86, which is the same car as the Subaru BRZ with different badging. They both feature a naturally aspirated 4-cylinder Subaru Boxer engine with 228 horsepower, and while they handle well, they are both very short on power. The Mazda MX-5 Miata falls into that same group, with sublime handling but just 181 horsepower.

Update: Rich S. pointed out that I forgot to include the Lexus RC F, which is powered by a 472 horsepower, 5.0-liter V8 – making it the most powerful Japanese two-door option under $100,000.

Europe Offers the Most Power

Not surprisingly, the European two-door coupes offer the most power (as a group), but they also have the highest starting prices of this list, while still starting below $100,000. The Dodge Charger Six Pack has a very premium-feeling interior, so it is conceivable that some people will cross-shop the next Mopar coupe against these European competitors.

BMW M4

BMW delivers the most power from Europe for under six figures, with the M4 Competition xDrive Coupe packing 523 horsepower. The M4 uses a twin turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive, similar to the Charger Six Pack. As the most powerful non-Charger on this list, we wanted to point out that the BMW M4 Competition xDrive Coupe starts at $88,300. In addition to the M4, the BMW M2 offers 453 horsepower in two-door form.

Mercedes-Benz offers the second-most-powerful car on our list of two-door cars under $100,000, with the AMG C63S delivering 503 horsepower, but that is based on the 2023 model year (which is still listed on the Mercedes and AMG websites). For 2024, the AMG C63S gets a 671 horsepower hybrid turbo-4 drivetrain, but it appears to be sedan only right now. The AMG lineup also has the E53 coupe with 429-horsepower and the C43 with 385 horsepower, along with a bunch of four-door “coupes” that we have not included in this two-door comparison.

Finally, the Audi RS5 offers 444 horsepower with standard all-wheel-drive and an 8-speed transmission, so it is another reasonable comparison for the Dodge Charger.

Hurricane Twin Turbo

In short, anyone shopping for a sporty two-door under $100,000 next summer will have a wide variety of models to choose from, but none pack as much power as the Dodge Charger Six Pack.
