Partly due to the Dodge Durango’s top placement (in a tie) in the “upper midsize SUV” segment, Dodge has climbed 31 points to become the second top rated mass-market brand in the J.D. Power 2025 APEAL survey.
APEAL measures owners’ emotional attachment to their cars and covers vehicle attributes more than quality or reliability. The only other Stellantis vehicle to win was the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was #3 in midsized SUVs. There are 22 vehicle classes in all.
For the first time in nearly a decade, all ten categories have improved over the prior year. The top ranking brands were Porsche, Land Rover, BMW, Mini, Dodge, and GMC, in order; Dodge is the #2 mass-market brand.
BMW had five cars winning #1 places, and Hyundai had four cars on top. Ford and Volkswagen each had three, and GM and Nissan each had two. Jaguar Land Rover, Toyota, and Stellantis had one car each in the top spots.
The Durango is expected to have a Hellcat engine for 2026, and otherwise remain unchanged.
