Hemi Scat Pack VS EV Scat Pack – Dodge Challenger 1320 Races a Dodge Charger Daytona

The Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack is currently the quickest electric vehicle from Dodge. The Dodge Challenger Scat Pack 1320 is the quickest naturally aspirated muscle car offered by Dodge during the previous generation. The video below, sent in by 1320 owner Kaleb Kelly, shows a straight line battle between the previous and current generation Scat Pack cars – Hemi Vs EV.

In stock form, the 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack Stage 2 delivers 670 horsepower with standard all-wheel-drive and it is capable of running an 11.50 quarter mile. A stock Dodge Challenger Scat Pack 1320 with the 485-horsepower Hemi is capable of running an 11.70 quarter mile time, but Kaleb Kelly’s 1320 is not stock. The factory wheels and tires have been replaced by 17-inch wheels with Hoosier drag radials out back – offering a substantial advantage over the stock tires. Those aftermarket rollers are also lighter, and Kelly has trimmed more weight by adding an aluminum front bumper support and a lithium battery. Finally, the 392 cubic inch Hemi has been tuned by Meesh/HHP, so it is making more power than it did in stock form. Oh, it is also the only 1320 car I have ever seen with the factory Shaker hood setup – making it the coolest 1320, in my humble opinion.

That being said, Kaleb Kelly’s Challenger 1320 is making quite a bit less power than the Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack, but before the weight reduction, the Hemi-powered muscle car is about 1,500 pounds lighter. When you take the weight reduction into account, Kelly has an even larger weight advantage, but the new Charger has lots more power, the instant torque that comes with EV tech and all-wheel-drive.

Kaleb Kelly’s best run in his Dodge Challenger Scat Pack 1320 was an 11.24, but that was on a properly prepared drag strip. The video below was captured at a Flashlight Drags event at Waynesburg Airport in Pennsylvania. The idea is for the event to offer the conditions of street racing in a safe environment, so there is no Christmas Tree at the starting line, no high tech timing systems and no sticky track prep. The racers have one light that tells them to go and a set of lights at the end of the track to show the spectators who won the sprint to the 8th-mile stripe.

In theory, the unprepped starting line should favor the car with all-wheel-drive, but as the video below shows, an experienced drag racer with a good set of tires and less power can get away from the starting line better than an AWD EV. Once Kelly had the starting line advantage, he cruised to victory with his Hemi-powered Dodge Challenger 1320.
