According to Ram, two new MagnaFlow exhaust options will “unleash the howl of the 540 horsepower Hurricane High-Output Straight-Six Turbo engine.” These are the “expertly tuned SPEQ Series Cat-Back Performance Exhaust System, or customizable xMOD Series Cat-Back Performance Exhaust System.”
Both, Ram, says, will provide “inspired sound, increased flow, and all-out performance.”
Tim Kuniskis, head of Ram, said that customers wanted more “attitude” from the Ram 1500 RHO, and since performance “isn’t just about horsepower and torque, it’s about the full sensory experience. With our new MagnaFlow exhaust options, we’re handing drivers the volume knob and letting them crank it to eleven.”
The options are the first fruit of the Direct Connection Affiliated Accessories Program, a collaboration between Ram and the performance exhaust company MagnaFlow. The SPEQ and xMOD series both have three-inch, mandrel-bent stainless steel construction, passive noise cancellation (“No Drone Technology”), dual exits with five-inch black chrome tips, and a two-year MagnaFlow warranty.
The MagnaFlow SPEQ Series Cat-Back system boasts:
- Balanced exhaust note during normal driving; full tone under acceleration
- MagnaFlow Tru-X crossover pipe (“X pipe”)
- Dual muffler design
- Valve-integrated mid pipes
- $2,089 (MSRP)
MagnaFlow xMOD Series Cat-Back Performance Exhaust System features:
- Six unique exhaust sound combinations, ranging from sporty to pissed-off
- MagnaFlow Tru-X crossover pipe, (X pipe)
- Race-bred v-band clamps for easy and reliable module connections
- Three swappable modules, increasing in sound: STREET, SPEQ, and COMP
- Two swappable mid-pipe modules, including standard valve-integrated pipes and valve delete pipes
- $3,099 (MSRP)
The RHO provides 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque, considerably more power than the 392 (6.4) V8, through a twin-turbo “SST” or “Hurricane” straight-six engine. Ram reports that the RHO has more horsepower per dollar than any other off-road pickup.
MagnaFlow, based on Southern California, specializes in undercar and performance products, with a forty-year history. In addition to its name brand, it sells as BRExhaust, ECT, and Camburg Engineering.
The sound of the new system should be available soon.

David Zatz started what was to become the world’s biggest Mopar site (Allpar) in 1994. After a chemo-induced 2007-2010 break, during which he wrote car books covering Vipers, minivans, and Jeeps, he returned with Patrick Rall to create StellPower.com for daily news, and to set up MoTales for mo’ tales (Chrysler history and “permanent” car and truck pages). He most recently wrote Century of Chrysler, a 100-year retrospective on the marque.
