Chryslers at Carlisle runs from July 11 to July 13; Friday and Saturday are the big days, while Sunday is more relaxed. Chrysler will bring a hefty number of classic cars to celebrate the centennial anniversary of Chrysler Corporation. The Walter P. Chrysler Club and Plymouth Owners Club are both having national meets there this year.
Those first 1924 Chrysler cars, dubbed the B-70, were largely created by Fred Zeder, Owen Skelton, and Carl Breer, who came together due to their shared desire for science in engineering (rather than using guesswork to develop cars and fix problems). Their use of scientific methods had a major impact not just on cars, but also on trains, air conditioners, and engineered metals.
Stellpower’s David Zatz, who recently published a book on Chrysler’s centennial, will give a short talk on Chrysler history at 10 am at the Expo Center on Saturday morning. There are numerous other events and bigger celebrities, including Steve Dulcich at 10 am Friday, the Golden Commandos and Ramchargers giving autographs on Friday from 9-11 am, a seminar on the Wing Car program from the people who did it, a fireside chat with the current head of Chrysler, Christine Feuell, … and that’s just on Friday. Saturday has another full schedule. Shuttles leave from Gate 3 to the Expo Center regularly.
There is also a key seminar on Chrysler Engineering Excellence including Bill Adams and people from Chrysler Historical on Saturday at 2 pm, with a Q&A to follow. A Chrysler 100 Parade starts at 7 pm.

David Zatz started what was to become the world’s biggest Mopar site (Allpar) in 1994. After a chemo-induced 2007-2010 break, during which he wrote car books covering Vipers, minivans, and Jeeps, he returned with Patrick Rall to create StellPower.com for daily news, and to set up MoTales for mo’ tales (Chrysler history and “permanent” car and truck pages). He most recently wrote Century of Chrysler, a 100-year retrospective on the marque.
