Dodge Garage, Dodge’s in-house blog, announced today that the Dodge Charger Scat Pack is open for ordering. They said it was the most powerful sedan in the industry, and also, though this seems obvious, the most powerful sedan under $60,000 (the list price is $56,995, plus destination charges).

The 550 horsepower engine drives the four-door from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, with a 12.2 second quarter mile time (at 177 mph). These are excellent times, though they are easily eclipsed by Dodge’s own Charger Daytona and the Jeep Wagoneer S (the Daytona does 0-60 in 3.3 and the quarter mile in 11.5).
A cheaper but still potent version, the 2026 Dodge Charger R/T, will have 420 horsepower and a price under $50,000 (plus destination); it will come out around a month after the Scat Pack (the number of doors was not specified). The two-door Scat Pack will start at $54,995 plus destination. The electric 2026 Dodge Charger Daytona, with 670 hp, is already on sale for $59,995. Only the Scat Pack comes with a day of performance driving instruction at the Radford Racing School.

Both the gasoline and electric Chargers will be available in two-door and four-door versions. Scat Pack deliveries are expected to start in December; the Charger factory will reportedly be doing triple shifts then, to satisfy demand while still making minivans as the R/T joins the Scat Pack.
The Charger also has standard leather-and-suede performance seats, a 12-inch center touch screen, and high performance brakes. Performance features include Launch Control and Line Lock.

David Zatz started what was to become the world’s biggest Mopar site (Allpar) in 1994. After a chemo-induced 2007-2010 break, during which he wrote car books covering Vipers, minivans, and Jeeps, he returned with Patrick Rall to create StellPower.com for daily news, and to set up MoTales for mo’ tales (Chrysler history and “permanent” car and truck pages). He most recently wrote Century of Chrysler, a 100-year retrospective on the marque.
